چکیده
Cotton breeding progress stagnation, changing production conditions, and continued high fiber quality demands are challenging the cotton industry in Burkina Faso. The F1 populations developed by half diallel crosses between germplasm from Texas A&M AgriLife Research Faso were evaluated for several agronomic traits. aim was to identify most promising parents hybrids further varietal improvement. Three helped improve important targeted Parent 15-3-416 reduced days 50% flowering (−3.14 days) shortened plant height (−22.25 cm) while 16-2-216FQ improved their percentage (+2.68%). Hybrids with elite cultivar E32 as male parent three best females showed good specific combining ability (SCA). FK37 × 15-10-610-7 FK64 heterosis earliness reducing, respectively, (−4.27 or boll opening (−3.95 below means. increased +1.75% +2.06%, respectively. seed index (SI) (+0.62 g) (+1.19%), maintaining other traits at parents’ average levels. desired improvements, reducing (−4) increasing number of bolls/vegetative branch (+3.05), bolls/fruiting (+6.38), bolls/plant (+13.49), weight (+1.53 g), SI (+0.40 (+1.18%). Inter-program show potential enhance genetic diversity Faso’s program. Subsequent selection methods must be carefully applied considering objectives future cultivars.

Spatial inequalities explained: Evidence from Burkina Faso
Empirical evidence suggests that regional disparities in incomes are often very high, that these disparities do not necessarily disappear as economies grow and that these disparities are itself an important driver of growth. We use a novel approach based on multilevel modeling to decompose the sources of spatial disparities in incomes among households in Burkina Faso. We show that spatial dispa...
متن کاملQTL analysis for early-maturing traits in cotton using two upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) crosses
Making use of the markers linked closely to QTL for early-maturing traits for MAS (Marker-assisted selection) is an effective method for the simultaneous improvement of early maturity and other properties in cotton. In this study, two F2 populations and their F2:3 families were generated from the two upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) crosses, Baimian2 × TM-1 and Baimian2 × CIR12. QTL for ea...
متن کاملAntibiotic resistance in Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso is one of the Subsaharan African nations. No national services for monitoring of antibiotic resistance are available, so the number of reports of resistance patterns among hospital pathogens are inconsistent. In order to evaluate antibiotic resistance, a total of 1998 valuable microrganisms were analysed during 2000 at the Medical Centre St. Camille of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso's c...
متن کاملMaternal Mortality in Burkina Faso: A Method from Population
Estimate of maternal mortality level is one of the important challenges surrounding the issue. Measurement of maternal mortality is a constant challenge for researchers and planners both in rich and poor countries (1, 2). The lack of data and the poor quality of existent information in many countries motivated United Nation agencies and many researchers to focus on estimating the level of mater...
